Growing up in a not-so-functional home, I learned the means of survival as a boy and through my teenage years. Those years included years of sexual abuse from people outside my family, including drug abuse, sex, and a rebellious lifestyle, leading me on a self-destructive path that would take years of recovery. After meeting Christ at eighteen and receiving His forgiveness, I have found great joy in helping others on their journey to recovery from similar paralyzing events in their lives. God’s Light illuminates the dark areas of our lives and brings us to new life and hope in our relationship with Him.

I have been married to Jeanne for thirty-seven years. We have a son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. Last year, I finished a four-month sabbatical, following twenty-four years as a chaplain and several years as a pastor to a new trajectory in ministry. The years prior, I was a hospice chaplain for sixteen years and served as chaplain/coordinator in a local hospital for eight years. I have walked alongside many beautiful people with amazing stories.

For fifty-eight years, Jesus has shepherded me across similar fields and mountaintops full of vistas and invitations. This adventurous journey continues. I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, cycling, social gatherings, Henry my Bernedoodle, journaling, nature, and great books.

Certified Professional Recovery Coach

I’m Ron Williams. I am a Certified Professional Recovery Coach with over 30 years of experience working with men who struggle with drugs and alcohol and 20 plus years in
the ministry. In recent years my work has expanded to sex and pornography addiction. My personal story has involved an addiction to pornography and unhealthy sexual behavior.

I never dreamed that I would be involved in a ministry to survivors of childhood sexual abuse. My addiction resulted in my arrest for interacting with underage girls online. Through God’s mercy I experienced the gift of desperation as I was arrested for my behavior. I served two years in prison and today, I am a registered sex offender. Through therapy and long-term involvement in recovery work, both on my own and in groups, I am living in long term recovery.

As I have worked with men on struggles with pornography and sexual behavior, I experienced men coming to me, knowing my story, asking for help with their struggle.
As we would meet, they would eventually begin a sentence with, “I’ve never told anyone this before,” and they would go on to share a story of childhood sexual abuse.

I have known Rob Schettler for roughly 40 years and shared with him my inability to find a place that ministers specifically to adult male survivors and Rob Shared he was
running into the same problem as men were coming to him. This discussion is when the idea of this ministry was born.
